By Barbara Ficarra, RN, BSN, MPA

After you had the tough task of searching for health information on the H1N1 swine flu vaccine from various media outlets; you’ve now determined that you would like to receive the H1N1 vaccine, but where do you go to get the H1N1 swine flu vaccine?

Thanks to Mashable, (the world’s largest leading blog focused exclusively on Web 2.0 and Social Media news) for sharing information on how Google has launched a tool for locating providers to administer the H1N1 swine flu vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine.

Google has collaborated with the U.S. Department for Health and Human Services (HHS) – flu.gov, and the American Lung Association to develop the flu shot finder.

Google’s flu shot finder includes 20 countries and 38 languages.  You can search providers in your area and it will tell you where to go and if they are out of stock or not.

So, let’s say you’re looking for a locator for the H1N1 flu vaccine in Ashland, Ohio.  Simply type in Ashland, Ohio in the locator box and here’s the results:

No flu shots found near Ashland, Ohio

“All locations below are out of stock. Some clinics with flu shots are not listed yet, so check back often. The Ohio Department of Health may have additional listings.”

Wow that’s a pretty cool feature. My doctor doesn’t have the swine flu vaccine yet, but maybe someone else in my area does. Thanks for the tip!
