Sanjay Gupta, MD, chief medical correspondent for CNN, is recognized for his outstanding contributions in health communications by the National Association of Medical Communicators (NAMC).

Dr. Gupta graciously accepted the first health communications achievement award at the 29th Annual American Medical Association’s Medical Communications Conference on April 1, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.

The question that was constantly asked throughout the conference was “How do medical communicators do it all?” For Sanjay Gupta, MD he says for him, it is half media and half medicine, and reliable reporting is critical.

The AMA Medical Communications Conference is an annual gathering of top medical professionals, journalists and medical communicators.

I agree with you Dr. V. Dr. Gupta was really nice, personable and very gracious. It was great to see him interact in a very friendly manner–yes, just like a peer. He was genuinely thrilled to be there!
