Being admitted to the hospital as a patient can be a frightening overhwhelming experience for you and your family. Here are some Simple tips to help navigate you through your hospital experience. First, always be proactive and take charge of your health; it’s important to communicate with your doctors and nurses. You must be completely honest about your health history. Let your doctors and nurses know if you have any allergies, if you take any herbs, supplements or over the counter medications. Next, make sure you understand your diagnosis and treatment plan and what’s expected of you when you are discharged. Finally, if you are scheduled for surgery, make sure you are 100% clear and understand the exact surgery that will take place. go over with the surgeon the area that is involved. Make sure the appropriate area is clearly marked!! Always speak up and ask questions. Remember, prevention it begins with you.
