The title of this article may be a little provocative. Many Americans, in fact, greater than 100 million Americans suffer from at least one of those two illnesses. Asthma is the most common respiratory ailment and the number one reason for emergency room visits. And, the incidence of both of these is on the rise.

However, I am convinced there is a cure for both of these; although, your physician has probably just given you medication after medication in the hopes of relieving your symptoms. While the relief of symptoms is admirable, and will certainly make you feel better; this does little to get to the underlying root cause of these very closely linked diseases.

The reason I think they are closely linked is due to their underlying connection to inflammation. Both allergies and asthma are what happens to you when you become inflamed; and when you can identify the reason for the inflammation, the symptoms can be alleviated, if not entirely eliminated. In this series of articles, I would like to outline my eight step nutritional program which has made many of my patients and people across the country to feel well, reduce their need for medication, to breathe freely again, and as an extra added bonus, possibly even lose weight in the meantime.

Over the course of the next few months, we are going to be discussing the role a healthy diet plays in alleviating symptoms or on the flip side, how a poor diet can make symptoms worse. I will teach you how to look for the triggers that sets off your allergies or asthma. You will learn how to clean up your internal environment so that the external environment will be less likely to cause any problems. We will explore hidden food sensitivities that you may have never known you had. Yeast is something more than the ingredient that makes bread rise; and you will learn the necessary nutritional supplements to take in order to rid yourself of allergies and asthma forever. I very much look forward to going on this journey with you.
