Barbara Ficarra was contacted by The New York Times and consulted with the health section of nytimes.com, meeting with director Sarah Greene and editor Mike Mason at their New York City office. Barbara provided insights into development of audio, video and print content for the site. Subsequently the site implemented a number of Barbara’s suggestions.

In addition to serving as an advisor for CareSeek, Barbara was instrumental in consulting with founder Gale Wilson-Steele on developing the brand for the online consumer health company.

Barbara is a registered nurse active on the front lines of health care: She is a head nurse at a level 2 trauma center and covers multiple medical and surgical units, critical care, oncology, cardiology and step-down units, the psychiatric in-patient unit and the Women’s and Children’s units, pediatric ER and Barbara has many years experience covering the main emergency room.
